The
Olivet Discourse
by
Dr. Paul Lee Tan (1/10/00)
The famous Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24 and 25--given by Christ on the
Mount of Olives--vividly and chronologically describes Israel's history
during that time.
We outline the events:
A. Two Initial
Questions-
Matthew 24:3 "And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples
came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be?
and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the
world?"
The first question, "When shall these things be?", is answered
in Luke 21:20-24, and took place in A.D. 70, when Jerusalem was completely
destroyed by the Romans.
The second question, "What shall be the sign of thy coming and of the
end of the world?", is answered in Matthew 24 and 25, and takes place
at the Great Tribulation.
B. Two Halves
of the Tribulation-
The first 3-1/2 years of the Tribulation is described in Matthew 24:4-8.
The second 3-1/2 years of the Tribulation is described in Matthew
24:9-26.
