How can we discern between true and false
prophets?
All
prophets claim to be “true.” But the Bible gives us at least 5 tests
for genuineness--
A. Moral
Character of the Prophet (Matt. 7:17-20).
B.
Spiritual Nature of the Prophecy (cf. Deut. 13:1-3; Jer. 28:8).).
C.
Authentication by Signs (Elijah and Elisha are examples)
D.
Discernment by the People (It is not possible to fool all God’s people
all the time).
E. Fulfillment in History (I Kings 22:28; also Deut. 18:21-22).
