[Revelation Ch.20b: The Great White Throne]

I. Its Judge

REV 20:11  And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it

This Throne is called "great" because it is the Supreme Court of Heaven. From its decision there is no appeal. Everyone who is unsaved must ultimately meet the final Judge.

It is also called "white" because God's absolutely pure and highest standards will be revealed from it. No little sin will be left unaccounted; no misstep of life will be winked at.

Who will sit as Final Judge? John 5:22-23 reveals that "the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son." To Jesus Christ will be committed all judgments. Why? "Because he is the Son of man" (5:27).

Although God is absolutely just, He will also be absolutely fair. None will throw out the excuse: "God, you did not have human life and experience, how could you judge us? You do not know difficult life was, how could you condemn us?"

No, God will commit all judgments to the Son, because He had become man, walked where man walked, and started His life as a Baby. Christ Himself will judge because He knows human life.
