[Revelation
Ch.20a: The Millennium]
II.
Saints Resurrected
REV
20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was
given unto them:
and
I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus ...
which had not worshipped the beast ...they lived and reigned with Christ a
thousand years.
Here are the believers during the tribulation and who have suffered and
died as martyrs. They will be resurrected at the end of the tribulation
for the millennial reign of Christ.
REV
20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand
years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
The term "first" resurrection does not mean that the rapture of
the church should be placed here at the end of the
tribulation. It is obvious that there have been "many"
resurrections even before this "first" one—
Christ the Firstfruits (I Cor. 15:23)
Many Old Testament saints (Matt. 27:52-53)
Church saints at the rapture (I Thess. 4)
Two witnesses at the tribulation (Rev. 11)
Martyred tribulational saints (Rev. 20:5)
Thus, the resurrection of the righteous will be by stages. All these
stages are classified under the "first" resurrection. I
Corinthians 15 is the chapter on the resurrection, and it describes the
above resurrections in distinct, separate stages.
