[Revelation Ch.17: Religious Babylon] I.
The Harlot on the Beast
REV
17:3-6 ...and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast,
full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns... upon her
forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF
HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH...I saw the woman drunken with the
blood of the saints
The harlot represents the apostate religious system that will arise during
the Great Tribulation. She is called "Babylon" because the
teachings of the wicked Babylonian system, founded by Nimrod, has been
incorporated into her rituals and ceremonies.
The scarlet beast, with its seven heads and ten horns, is the political
system that will arise from the old Roman Empire. Here is a picture of
religion controlling politics.
During the first half of the tribulation, the world church will exert
effective influence over the rising antichrist and his European
confederacy.
