[Revelation
Ch.16: The Bowl Judgments (Cont'd)]
VII.
The Sixth Bowl
REV
16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great
river Euphrates
In this passage, the great Battle of Armageddon swifly takes shape. It
started when the ancient river Euphrates dries up. Euphrates is some 1,800
miles long. Its source is in Turkey, and it flows through Syria, then the
entire length of Iraq, finally flowing into the Persian Gulf. This river
traditionally separated the Orient from the West.
REV
16:12 and the water thereof was dried up
Rivers have hampered the march of ancient land armies. Someday, God would
make it easy for the east to invade the mideast by drying up this
important river.
REV
16:12 that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
Asia used to be composed of “isolated” powers. Ancient China
considered herself "the central kingdom," with all other nations
as barbarians. Other countries in Asia were mostly un-influential nations
or colonies of the west.
However, the Orient is very much alive today. Other countries like to do
business with Asia. Japan s economic muscles are second to none. And close
ties continue to be tied between the Orient and the Middle East. Nothing
happens in the mideast now without affecting the east.
REV
16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out
When God's time comes for the nations to fight the last war, three demonic
spirits will incite the world's armies to come to Israel for war.
REV
16:16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the
Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
"Armageddon" is from two words "har" (mount) and
"Megiddo" (in northern Israel). The armies of the world will
assemble for a final decisive battle. The reason for this battle's
occurring in Israel may be related to--
(1) Arab-Israel conflict
(2) Wealth in the Dead Sea
