[Revelation Ch.12: The Dragon and the Woman]

IV. War In Heaven (Part II)

REV 12:13  And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

Anti-Semitism is a phenomenon so unique among nations that it is defined in the dictionary. But tribulational persecution of Jews will surpass all history's acts. Because of the Messiah's birth, Israel would be singled out by Satan for reprisal.

REV 12:14  ...that she might fly into the wilderness...where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

A repetition of the promise of protection for Israel in 12:6.

REV 12:15  And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman

The flood, like the Dragon and the woman, is a symbol. It could symbolize a flood of armies near the Dead Sea regions (cf. Isa. 59:19).

REV 12:16  And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood

At the height of this threat, God supernaturally protects Israel by opening up the earth. We are reminded of the rebellion of Koran (Num. 16), which was terminated after God opened the earth and swallowed them.

REV 12:17  And the dragon... went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Satan will never cease to attack Israel, both in the Land and worldwide, until he himself is thrown into the Bottomless Pit and then the Lake of Fire.
