[Revelation
Ch.5: Christ and the Scroll]
III.
The Lion-Lamb
REV
5:6-7 And I beheld, and, lo...stood a Lamb as it had been slain,
having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God. And
he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the
throne.
Christ is known as the Lion of Judah, which portrays Him as absolute Ruler
over Israel. The term Root of David refers to His birth-roots in the
family of David.
The seven horns symbolizes perfect strength and the seven eyes point to
divine judgment and foresight. When Christ comes to judge, it will be
based on His perfection and wisdom.
REV
5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the
book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast
redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and
people, and nation;
In the original manuscript, the word "redeemed us" is
"redeemed men." This is a reason for the belief that the 24
elders may be angelic beings, not men.
