[Daniel
Ch.7: Daniel's Vision of 4 Beasts]
IV.
Details on the Fourth Beast (7:19-25)
The first three empires were shown to Daniel in the first night, but one
whole night was given to the fourth empire.
DAN
7:19-20 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast...and of
the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and
before whom three fell.
Daniel rightly saw the importance of the fourth beast in prophecy,
especially its central figure: the antichrist.
And he asked for a fuller revelation.
DAN
7:23-24 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth
kingdom upon earth...And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings
that shall arise: and another shall rise after them...and he shall subdue
three kings.
Here is a clear
description of the Revived Roman Empire, with its ten kings and the
Antichrist who will rule over them. In the process of rulership, three
Roman kings will be subdued.
DAN
7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and
shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and
laws:
This will be Satan's
last attempt to destroy the Jewish race during the Great Tribulation. But
it will fail, because finally the "saints of the Most High shall take
the kingdom."
To the Jewish rabbis, "times and laws" referred to the Hebrew
Sabbaths and festivals, and the Levitical laws which regulated them. When
the temple is rebuilt, these laws will be reestablished and acknowledged
by the antichrist. But at the middle of the tribulation, the antichrist
destroyed the temple and stops all sacrifices there.
DAN
7:25 ...and they shall be given into his hand until a time and
times and the dividing of time.
In prophecy, a time is
one year, times is two years, and the dividing of time is 1/2 year.
This is the 2nd half of the tribulation, or the 3-1/2 year period
of the antichrist's rulership over the entire world.
