[Daniel
Ch.1: From Jerusalem to Babylon]
II.
Daniel and His Friends (1:3-7)
DAN
1:4 Children in whom was no blemish...whom they might teach the
learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
A very difficult language, similar to Akkadian.
DAN
1:5 ...nourishing them three years
Problem: But Daniel started interpreting dreams to Nebuchadnezzar during second
year of his reign (2:1).
Solution: Nebuchadnezzar began reigning in the Spring of 604, but his
"accession year" (following the Nisan calendar system) was in
605. Daniel had started training before that.
DAN

the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of
Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abed-nego.

Hananiah="Jehovah has been gracious"
Mishael="Who is as God?"
